In October 2020, we had the chance to hold a second pilot study with students at De Wijde Wereld School in Amersfoort, Netherlands! As part of a day event revolving around “multicultureel samenleven” (multicultural coexistence), Group 7 and Group 8 played the game “Empathy Land”. In the follow-up classroom discussion, the children reported having fun playing the game, were curious about learning more about their fellow students and would have liked to play for a longer time. Many said that they had learned something new about others that they had not known before. In addition, the teachers were also pleased to learn more about their student’s home situations, especially since several of the topics would never come up in a classroom environment. ”Empathy Land” was received very positively and plans were made for further use in class!
